I am new to Atlanta from Orlando but have been practicing hot yoga for 15 years. This studio was nearby and I feel like I chose well. The check-in was simple after signing up online. I chose to buy the 1 Month of Yoga for $30. You can use it at any of their 9 locations. There’s a water fountain if needed and secure place to store your things. Class was crowded but I had enough room to flow. The HY Power Flow class led by Ally had an excellent flow and energetic music with great mantras/lessons at the beginning and end. We were given a fresh, cold washcloth with essential oils right before corpse pose. It was divine. I really look forward to the next one I attend.
Really lovely welcoming people. Instructors were were well educated in a particular series of poses but welcomed students modifying. Studio atmosphere is very quiet. Seems like people dont know each other or socialize. Also there are no mirrors which is hard for me as I rely a bit on mirror for balance. Overall though I would totally go back. Very pleasant practice.
I have been going to Highland Yoga, mostly at the Memorial location, for more than a year and a half. It's the fitness activity that is making the most difference in my strength and endurance in my life. I'm older than the average student (55) but I've steadily made my way toward being able to complete even the most vigorous flow classes (although I prefer the slow and steady class). Sometimes I have to slow down or take extra beats between poses, but this works for me. The quality of teaching is consistently excellent, although teachers each have different styles/areas of emphasis, and they are all willing to work with you individually on poses after class. Also, there are all different levels of ability and body types in the room, which makes it feel welcoming and accessible. Everyone is friendly. So grateful to have this studio in my neighborhood!
I’ve been coming to HY for 3 years and it has changed my life! They offer a great new student special in case you’re interested in trying it out. I love that you can attend any of the studio locations. There are plenty of class times to choose from, and several wonderful instructors. Sign in is easy, and everyone there is welcoming and friendly. I can’t recommend them enough!
I am enjoying my first month of Highland Yoga (for $30! Unheard of!) and look forward to many more months of practice here. The space is lovely and the yoga is appropriately challenging - the community here are dedicated yogis. That said, they do seem to make it approachable for beginners, so I would feel comfortable bringing a new yogi to these classes as well. Come for the practice - stay for the cool, essential-oil infused towels at the end!
