Drybar - Charlotte in SouthPark

I’ve gone to other drybar locations before and have been 100% pleased, and I didn’t want to write a bad review but I am super super annoyed. The only reason I came was for volume I can’t do at home, I stressed that 10x, volume volume volume. She didn’t even touch my roots. I could’ve done this at home & better, for free. I’m just thankful I padded my schedule today so I have time to go home & redo it before my event tonight. Drybar, yes. SouthPark Drybar, no.

My hair looked like a bad joke when I left this place. I had to go home to rewash and style myself. I asked for my money back but that was declined. I really couldn’t believe how bad it was!!!!

Third time wasn't the charm. I used DryBar - Southpark twice before (and got the Mai Tai) and was extremely pleased. I decided to go a third time for a Mai Tai blowout because I had an event that evening. My appointment was at 11 a.m. and by 12 p.m., my hair was frizzy and straight and the blowout was gone. When I got home, I noticed my stylist never even did the back of my hair. When she was shampooing, she was speaking to her friend about wanting to leave early, so I think she was rushing. I was the last one to sit down and the first one to leave. When I looked in the mirror before I left, I liked what I saw (there were two big curls in the front so the illusion of the blowout was there), but then it instantly just fell apart. It was not worth the $55 + 20% tip at all. I've already had to restyle it 1.5 hours later. A huge bummer...I was so looking forward to being pretty tonight, but it won't be the case. My other two experiences were wonderful - stylist was nice and hair was beautiful. But when you're spending almost $65 - I want all the times to be perfect.

TLDR: Poor job, especially with thick hair, staff turnover is very high and little to no management. I didn’t want to write this review, but after multiple times reaching out to try to resolve my issue with a manager, it seems this is my only recourse. I visited on April 28th to get a blowout before going on a trip. In the booking notes, I wrote that I have fairly thick hair and requested an experienced stylist. I even let them know at booking that I would be requesting round brush curls, one of the styles on their ‘menu’ (The Southern Comfort). The stylist I was assigned struggled throughout the whole process. She pulled my hair repeatedly during the shampoo and kept fumbling and dropping the round brush during the blowout. She just seemed very inexperienced at what she was doing. After almost an HOUR AND A HALF, she was ‘done’. My hair was only slightly curled at the bottom, very frizzy and with a ton of weird lumps- even crease marks from the clips she used for the Velcro rollers. As I walked to my car, I (tried) to run my hands through my hair and was horrified to find DAMP SPOTS throughout the middle and bottom of my hair near the scalp. By the time I left, they were already closed for the evening. I filled out the survey they email afterwards explaining the experience, which usually prompts an email from a manager, but I still have heard nothing. I called the next day and asked to speak to a manager and the girl took a message- and no one has ever gotten back to me. Don’t waste your time or money here. DryBar does not seem to be able to provide the service and experience they used to- I have been a ‘barfly’ member for years, but will be cancelling to find somewhere else.

I’m a barfly member and really enjoy getting my blowouts at Drybar SP. I see Kaci most often and she does an amazing job executing my styling. I also love seeing Sarah Lee and Jade, as they are excellent as well. Always have a wonderful experience and I look forward to my weekly appointments!
