Dathan Hunter Salon

I’m currently in Portland, ME for 3 months on a business trip, and my hair was starting to look like an oompa-loompa’s. I was referred to Iliana and boy, did she deliver! Not only were she and Dathan super meticulous, they were a fun duo. This isn’t your typical salon with 12 chairs and 4 different people’s hands touching you. This was a white glove service, where they handled the process cradle-to-grave. They gave me the sexiest baby lights, brought up my balayage, toned the orange with different glosses, and gave me a trim. Dathan helped Ili with basics, but overall, she knew what she was doing! The price was reasonable compared to the West Coast, especially since I was there for 3 hrs. I felt incredibly relaxed and they gave me awesome suggestions for a potential elopement. Can’t wait to come back in August!

PLEASE GO HERE. I spontaneously decided to dye my hair pink and they were SO COOL. I called a bunch of places they were the only ones able to help me out on such short notice. Illyana is an artist in the way she approached cutting my hair. She cut my curly hair dry, which I've always wanted someone to do. She was amazing. Thanks.

The first thing I did when I moved to Portland was to find a cosmetologist that could do great color and cut. NOT all blondes are created equally and Dathan is spot on to what I wanted! I feel like I have a high expectation because my sister is a cosmetologist and had always done my hair back home and I also worked in a salon for several years. As you can see in the picture I posted, he has taken the time and effort to continue education to perfect his craft/skill. That meant something to me, because I wanted someone that had passion for his craft. I am always happy with my hair afterwards and, honestly, I really enjoy the conversations we have. He has a small salon, (easy to find parking) VERY COVID FRIENDLY. Just the two of us in there. No one is booked into my time slot and I have caught him every time, cleaning/disinfecting between clients. Mask are worn the whole time. I highly recommend Dathan at his salon Dathan Hunter Salon.

Illyana is simply the best! The banter with her father and customers, the gorgeous dogs and salon are all wonderful. But SHE was made to style hair!
