Our son almost drowned last year, last year we had him in another school, paid for 12 weeks, had no issues but my son was scared to do the lessons. We decided to enroll our 2 kids with the BSS because it was closer and they teach in a different style that my older son was on (We don't have to go in the pool with them) everything seemed to be fine at the beginning and now the whole experience has been ruined by their management and customer service people.
We feel they are really misleading and give you just the necessary information when is convenient for them and not all the important information all together. First issue was that when I enrolled my older son in July, they told me it was for a month (which we thought it was going to be 4 weeks, so 4 classes...), I told them that first I wanted to see how my son was doing for the first month and then decide if we wanted to continue, they assured me they were going to let me know when it was time to pay for the next month, so after his 3rd class they told me that if I wanted to take him to the next class I needed to pay again, ahh and by the way he lost his spot at the Lake Nona Class because they never called me to confirm like they said they would, so they dropped him out, so after they said they were going to let him do a make up class, which we couldn't even take, and at the end we had to put him in Hunter's Creek, which is like 20-25 mins away from our house ahh and course not on Saturdays anymore, in the middle of the week was the only class available...
My 6 month old baby was supposed to start his new class in August, I called 2 weeks in a row, left them voice mail, emails etc, they never answered when I called, then like 2 days before his class they show up, I tell them I WANT TO CHANGE HIM TO ANOTHER CLASS BECAUSE HE WAS REALLY SICK and the other one sprained his foot, so I wanted to start the baby later, and figure it out for the my older son... They told me not to worry, that I don't need to change them, that they have 2 months, and she calculated until October to make up their 2 missed classes, that everything was fine.
Well, today they call me to ask for more money, if they wanted to enroll for the next month, I told them not really because we have 4 classes left, 2 for each and we had until October, she says ahh yes but if they are not enrolled they cannot take the classes... Mmm, excuse me? Yes they have to be enrolled so they have until the end of the month to take the make up classes if they will not be paying for next months, mind you today is AUGUST 24th, so I said fine, put them in the next 6 days to take the 6 classes they have left, and guess what THERE ARE NO CLASSES AVAILABLE, she checked a couple of places and there's none available, so she says, I will go ahead and give you a call on MONDAY AUGUST 28th to let you know if there space for that MONDAY or the next 3 days for... Like seriously? SO THEY WANT ME TO DROP EVERYTHING if they tell me there's something available the day OF, like we will be here just waiting for them, kids don't go to school, nobody works etc...
Ridiculous, so quick to take the money but not tell you all the important information. They definitely should not say its $30 dollars per class after the membership fee, because THEY DO NOT CHARGE YOU FOR THE CLASS, you have to pay A MONTH IN ADVANCE for all the lessons of the whole "month" and they don't give you a refund even if they don't have any classes available for you...
I'm extremely dissatisfied with these people, I feel somewhat scammed. They are never available, customer service apparently only works like 3 hours, good luck trying to communicate with them, the manager is also never available to talk, after all the messes. Other than that, I really like the classes with the swim teachers, I like the approach for the kids, it's just customer service and accounting they are misleading, it's been a nightmare... It makes me really sad because I wanted to enroll myself and continue next summer for my kids but it's more the stress and miscommunication or omissions.
I absolutely love our instructor Lina, in the lake nona facility. She is very aware of other children even if she is not their instructor she is well aware of what she is doing, she is very patient, super positive, shes over all has made this experience more calming and relaxing then what I was expecting. Shout out to Lina we love her
I’ve applied my 2 years old daughter for her first swimming class at Lake Nona location. At first time over there I’ve been served for two attendant that told me they had one spot at Sunday 10:30, but I had to apply through website, so I did, but I didn’t find the Sunday class in website, then we come to Lake Nona this morning to try start her class, and another attempt told us that she was not enrolled in none class ( of course not, it doesn’t appear on website to). And now this new attendant told us to call to the office to enroll her!
Worst experience! And we had to get back home with her and no class!
Start searching for another swimming school!
Our daughter is 4 years old, and we have been going to the British Swim school in Lake Nona for about 2 months now. We came from pedaquatics, which we loved, but decided to transition to BSS as our girl needed a bigger pool.
We’ve had a bumpy road so far at BSS… my husband and I reviewed the website and videos and decided that a turtle 2 was a good place for our daughter to start. She was aligned with the current milestones and goals listed. We were on a 3+ month waiting list and finally we got the call that a spot in tur available. After our first class we were happy with our decision, but every class after that was taught differently, by different instructors and more advanced than expected. My husband and I decided that due to the inconsistencies and not wanting our daughter to get discouraged, we moved her down to a turtle 1 class. We finally feel like we found a level that fits, even though the website is inaccurate…
Update*** We’ve found our groove, and our girl is enjoying herself. We did buy a wetsuit for her because the pool is freezing, especially when she is in and out. We haven’t not seen much “progress” in her strokes but now she is getting comfortable, it should come.
The small classes and nice swimming instructors. All the instructors have a lot of patience for the kids and can always make them smile by the end of class.
