I've been incredibly impressed with the swimming lessons for my children. The instructors' competence is evident through the noticeable progress my kids have made, mastering floating in such a short time. The effective teaching methods and dedication to their progress have truly stood out, making it a fantastic experience for my children and me. I highly recommend these lessons to others seeking quality instruction and rapid improvement in swimming skills for their kids. I also appreciate how quickly this swim school addresses any concerns I may have regarding my children's safety and lessons.
Overall the experience has been great. My daughter is excelling. The swimming instructors are patient and friendly. Anna is amazing- very friendly and caring. My only issue is at times it seems as though the staff switches up constantly and it sucks when your child gets comfortable with specific instructors and then they are no longer available or inconsistent with working with the child. Otherwise it’s a pleasurable experience. Pricing seems to be relatively reasonable in comparison to other swim schools. Would definitely recommend.
My teenage son and I took adult intermediate lessons this summer. We loved our lessons. We received a lot of personal attention and personalized feedback. Our coach Griffin was very knowledgeable and pleasant. We stopped only because of the school year scheduling conflict.
I was on the waiting list , and finally got my daughter a place!! :)))
Have to tell you Keisha was absolutely amazing at accommodating you, welcoming you and sooooooo wonderful!!!
Alex , my daughter teacher was absolutely fantastic with a first time learner !!!! Good staff, good prices amd very clean environment!!!
Will recommend this place to any parent!!!!

On brand for Brooklyn, this actually underground pool-school is both tolerably quirky and conveniently located, with the feel of a well kept secret. Most importantly, the school is teaching people of all ages to swim. Requires some sacrifices but totally worth it for us. The islands of NYC could do with more public aquatic education so schools like BSS serve a really important need. Ultimately, it has been a total net positive for our two year old who has been practicing for half a year (usually loving it) and is nearly there. Thank you BSS! ♡ ♥ ♡ ♥
EDIT: Just read some reviews and wanted to comment my reactions:
-yes the pool water is sometimes a bit cool for infants esp in winter; so we got a tiny wetsuit in case it was unbearable - was not often an issue;
-yes it's not cheap but (a) this city is expensive (b) there are no less expensive alternatives (c) the price is reasonable given the operational costs and (d) swimming skills are priceless.
-yes it's compact, its NYC. There is however a bigger BSS pool in midtown, but more $ and way less convenient for us. The Bklyn Armory swim school doesn't take infants last I checked (the Union Sq. location apparently does) and is also more $.
-I have found that BSS has a really generous makeup policy - and is fairly easy to manage on the BSS app (from what I understand the Armory pool has no makeups)
