I got my makeup done here for my wedding. My wife and our wedding party got their hair and makeup done here. Everyone came out looking how they wanted and they kept on schedule with everyone. The salon was relaxed and fun. My makeup had a trial to test it out and the day-of version came out exactly as we’d worked it out in the trial. I was very happy with the entire experience.
As a hairstylist, I’m very picky about my blow outs and I was SO IMPRESSED by my blow out with Stephanie! I asked her blow dry and set it with pins because I had a wedding later in the evening and she did an AMAZING JOB. I got compliments on my hair all night and it lasted so well. Go to Stephanie.
Adorable blow drive bar with very friendly staff. Their online system makes it very easy to make an appointment. I loved the products that they used on my hair and they were always gentle. My blow dry lasted twice as long as it usually does and my hair stylist gave me tips on how to take care of it when I go to bed. 100% would recommend this place.
I really wanted to love this place, but unfortunately, I can't anymore. I have been coming to this salon twice per month since last December and even became a member.
When I arrived, I told the stylist (who I hadn't worked with before) that I needed to use my laptop because there were some emergencies I needed to address. She seemed understanding. My request for the day was simple: a blow-dry and quick styling before I could leave. She asked, "A little puff, okay?" I nodded, and that was it.
While my hair was being cooled, I suddenly felt a burning sensation on my scalp. I turned slightly and informed the stylist. This has happened before with different stylists at this salon, but usually, they would adjust my head, their wrists, or the temperature, and we would continue without any issues. I completely understand that mistakes can happen.
However, today was different. The stylist became defensive and denied any responsibility:
* "You kept looking at the computer, so it's your fault."
* "Do you even want me to finish your hair?" (repeated three times)
* "I have to perform the procedure at a certain angle, and your head is too low."
* "I'm not hurting your scalp; the hairdryer has to be at this angle."
* "You can leave if you want."
I have no problem with clear communication or accommodating the stylist's requirements. They could have even asked me to put away my laptop to make the procedure easier for them. However, denying my feelings that my scalp was burned is unacceptable. Using a high-temperature hairdryer carelessly and displaying a passive-aggressive attitude towards me is not professional.
The front desk lady was able to cancel this appointment under my membership and showed understanding. Thank you for that. However, considering there are many other hair salons in the Jersey City area, I have decided to speak with your manager regarding a refund and will be going to other places.
