Ayres de Recoleta

Terrible experience. Booked and paid in advance but arrived at 6.45pm to find there is no way to check in. There were no staff and just an abandoned reception desk. We tried for an hour calling various phone numbers and connecting to the intercom systems but to no avail. A resident in the building even tried to help us. There were no instructions in the confirmation except ‘turn up and show your ID to reception’. Avoid this place if you are arriving in Buenos Aires and needing a safe and welcome arrival. Our experience was so stressful. We had to find another hotel and walk around the streets of BA at night with luggage. Also the ‘hotel’ is not responding to our requests for a refund.

Avoid. We booked this accommodation several months in advance via Booking. A few weeks before the time of travel, the hotel started emailing us demanding payment in cash only. Two days before the booking, the hotel sent WhatsApp message to say they were fully booked and that we (not them) had to cancel the reservation. After a lot of back and forth with Booking and the hotel, the reservation was cancelled. The hotel managers never acknowledged it was their fault.

Great apartment overall! With few exceptions, it was very clean! The beds were comfortable enough, although it was two twin beds together, as opposed to one queen-sized bed. Location is amazing! You can almost see the recoleta necropolis from the room, and it has plenty of pubs and shops nearby. Buses run frequently in the area and the Metro lines aren't that far. There was a Día supermercado just around the corner and two kioscos less than 2 min walk.

Stayed here in 2009. Fantastic service and staff. Great location. Looking forward to staying there next visit to BA.

Good location, uncomfortable rooms, cold water in shower plumbed incorrectly, but a good place to stay
